Feng Shui: How Water Improves Money Luck
By Guest Writer Lynda Lee Abdo“Be a fountain -- not a drain,” a quote by Rex Hudler expresses perfectly the goal of the Feng Shui consultant when placing water remedies to boost money luck. Some homes are naturally lucky, and others are not -- and the practice of classic Feng Shui addresses this mystery.Water is the essence of life, and for the Chinese, it has also been associated with financial abundance for thousands of years. Three quarters of the world is covered with oceans, and interestingly, water is about 70 % of our body mass. Water ebbs and tides – much like the financial bull and bear markets. Seaports, the mouths of international commerce, are critical harbors to exchange and trade. Money has become the universal medium of exchange, and it flows very much like water. We even describe money as currency. Is it any wonder that we equate water and money as two very similar energies?Let’s take a closer look at water, for it has some very unique characteristics. In Feng Shui, water is energy that descends. It moves from the sky and snow peaked mountain caps to the rivers below -- ultimately finding its way to Mother Ocean. Although water is considered the most sensitive of all elements, it is also very powerful-- able to crack the hardest stone. It is a universal solvent and carries traces of all elements that touch it, and has a profound memory. This “memory” can be programmed according to the research of famed scientist Masaru Emoto. Masaru even claimed that the human consciousness can affect the molecular structure of water -- and this concept is echoed in current discoveries in quantum physics and string theory.Water is cohesive, attracted to itself, and an excellent conductor of electricity, and this is key to its power. When a home is unbalanced (blocked to certain electro-magnetic energies), it hampers chi flow and thus affects the ability of the occupants to thrive. The skillful addition of water seems able to resolve this blockage. Although I have never run across a clear scientific explanation for how water can boost money luck in a home, I do know that as water evaporates, oxygen is released and it has a weak electro-magnetic potential. I would theorize that water improves a home’s electro-magnetic conductivity and its ability to receive, or transmit additional environmental energy. In other words, enhancing the water aspects of a home strengthens its electro-magnetic receptivity, thus allowing it to receive more “signals.” This is similar to tuning a radio so it can receive more channels and information. Hence, homes near the ocean or a large body of water tend to be the most prosperous.Water is curiously more sensitive to sound vibrations than the air -- allowing sound waves to travel much faster underwater. Water is also sensitive to light waves that move easily through its depths, creating a myriad of beautiful rippling patterns. Our bodies mimic this exquisite sensitivity, and this quality may be partly responsible for our ability to hypnotize ourselves – and imprint our intentions onto our subconscious mind.Other positive aspects of water are the healthful negative ions it produces through ocean surf, rainfall, or waterfalls, and its beautiful light blue color that is calming to our psyche. Water purifies and oxygenates itself through movement; and dirty or stagnant water is not considered to bring good luck. The gentle permeability of water and its ability to pass through cell membranes allow it to climb to great heights through plants and trees. Plants and animals depend on water to survive, and when we are dehydrated, we lose much of our natural energy and strength. Water is essential for prosperity on many levels. In English, Feng Shui roughly translates to wind/water, and these ancient traditions describe water as being capable of storing positive chi, that is carried/dispersed by wind currents. So how can water help our finances, and re-activate careers? We desire money to pour into our lives; in the same way we desire our fountains to flow. Prosperity will not happen in stagnation. There are many techniques people use to increase their wealth, ranging from the mundane to the esoteric. We go to college, study stock markets, and invest wisely. We use positive visualization, astrological timing, gamble, or even venture a money spell; but, of all these methods, the fastest and most consistent shifts I have observed are from the advanced school of “Flying Stars” or Xuan Kong. Feng Shui is about harnessing earth energy and some would argue that, “everything is energy.” But since the earth is a powerful generator, learning to manage its electro-magnetic fields is a powerful natural path that can lead to greater abundance. So if you would like to try a metaphysical approach, below is a short review of the some of these methods:House Types: Water is used to balance two critical house types having weak energy that translate into financial difficulties. Money comes in, but bills either meet or exceed income regularly. These houses are more commonly known as “Double-Sitting” or “Reverse” homes. Water is placed behind the house in a good direction to neutralize this negative aspect.Wang Money Stars: Water features are placed in the “wang” (active) money position determined by the current cycle to boost finances. These are specific directions that shift with every 20 yr. cycle.Zero and Shining Spirit: This is a formula used to determine the best locations for water placements outside a home for the current 20 yr. cycle. We are now in period “8” until 2024, and the best locations currently for water outdoors are the SW and East. If you place a fountain in these directions, it helps boost money luck in general, (unless there is a money lock on the house. Avoid placing water in the NE as this will drain finances).House Locks: An “energy lock” can either stagnate career/finance or health/relationships. Most homes go through periodic annual locks every few years, but some buildings have 20 yr. locks. A business that starts with such a long-term lock is most certainly a recipe for bankruptcy. Real Estate professionals are familiar with these properties that change management repeatedly, each time with a new company trying to make a successful go of it. Even with the best of locations, if the internal energy has a serious lock--plans will go awry. This is why many Asians have major real estate investments assessed by a consultant before they purchase. Water is that magic element that will lift and neutralize any lock; and ocean or lakeside properties seldom lock for this reason.Water Dragons: Other advanced formulas known as water dragons, are additionally helpful in increasing money luck. Dragons are symbols of earth energy. Following “dragon” lines and finding the most auspicious areas of the natural terrain is considered a very important skill of Feng Shui training. This is similar to ley lines in Europe, and these locations will vary with each individual home.* A classically trained Feng Shui consultant can advise you of the best areas in your home to use the water element and guide you in making choices to promote your home's prosperity.
